Well, a lot has gone on since I blogged last. Don't really know who has an interest in reading about our boring lives so I don't get motivated to blog much!
We have been going through custody hearings for my 2 nieces, Victoria & Haley, who have been living with us since Thanksgiving. Basically neither parent wants to fight us for custody but neither want to pay child support. We have been issued child support from the court from both parents and have yet to receive anything. School clothes/supplies are a struggle this year.
Unfortunately, Mike is still not working and it is stressing him out. He defines himself as the provider and being unable to provide is making him agitated. He is a good guy and I have faith that something will happen for him. He has been so great to have around! He spoils me rotten. He cooks a lot, does all the grocery shopping, and he runs the kids around. Maybe I should go to work and let him do this. LOL! Seriously, if I could make as much money as him, I would.
Kirstie will not be returning to UNT this year. She did not like it and she missed drill team so much! She wants to be a high school drill team director, so being on a team will only help her in that arena. (Who told her that a year ago? Hmmmm) So, she is transferring to TVCC to be a cardette. She went to freshman camp last week and sent me a text saying "I really, really love this team"! I am so glad!
Kaylie decided to leave drill this year and be a Varsity Cheerleader for her senior year. She is having fun with that. Yes she misses drill but she is having more time for herself her senior year! Cheer is not as demanding as drill. She is working at Old Navy. And, most importantly she is getting ready to try out for DCC (Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader) in May! She really wants that. She has been working out and doing great!
Kourtney has started drill camp this week. She made the drill team at the new North Forney High School and she is actually loving it! She is having a good time. I am so happy for her. You never know with Kourtney and I am so pleasantly surprised that she is having such a great time. She starts high school this year! My baby! I can't believe it and it hits me in the gut every time I think about it! I miss them being little so very much!
Victoria has started band this week. 8:00 am to 5:00 pm everyday for the next 3 weeks before school starts! Ouch! Gotta be hard, but she can do it! She loves band, music and her friends so it is great for her!
Haley started pee wee drill team. It is the last year that she is eligible. She needed to do it so that she could have some experience before trying out for high school drill. She is busting her butt and has improved dramatically. She is doing good, especially when you consider that she has NEVER done anything like this. She didn't even know about counting the music or anything! Crazy! She loves it and that makes it great!
That is kind of in a nutshell what we are all up to! Definitely busy with 5 teenage girls around.

First Real Blog
Well, Christmas is 1 week away and we are stressing out about Christmas! As is every other Christian on the planet I am sure. Though this year we have so many reasons to stress.
In November Mike took medical leave to have neck surgery! The surgery went fine and he was home healing when 1 week before Thanksgiving his HR called and made him aware that they did not have any work for him to come back to so he would be laid off. We have tried not to panic over this. We went about planning for Thanksgiving as usual and Mike started his search for work.
As Mike continued the search we had our family Thanksgiving the Saturday after because my Mom is a nurse and works on holidays. My whole family showed up, including my sister, who usually never comes, along with her 2 daughters. My sister was obviously high. She didn't know where she was, who I was, she was slurring and couldn't hardly stand up. She kept popping pills. She started trying to clean up the food while people were still making their plates in order to keep the bugs out (we DO NOT have any bugs) of the food. She poured the gravy into the sweet potatos, put a full pot of mashed potatos in the sink and filled it with water while people were still getting them, put the milk in the fridge sideways so it spilled all over the fridge. She thought I was her 14 yr old daughter. She continued to get worse. She thought my daughter Kaylie was her daughter Haley and she screamed at her boyfriend, Joe, and threatened to kill him for holding her hand. When she blacked out we rushed her to Parkland. They questioned her and determined that she was trying to kill herself because of the amount of drugs she had taken (she had enough drugs in her system to kill 3 grown men) and the answers she was giving. She was hallucinating. She didn't even know who I was.
The next day she came home and we, along with the sherrif, convinced her that it was best for the girls to live with me now. Especially since she was already high again before she got here because her "husband" gave her the pills back. So, now we have our nieces living with us and we are raising them with our own kids. They came with just the clothes on their backs. Fortunately Kaylie went to school and explained what happened to her drill team and they sent a ton of school clothes and regular clothes to the girls. We had to go to WalMart to buy underwear, bras, toothbrushes, makeup, pajamas, deoderant, etc. They literally had the clothes on their back and that is all. We were able to enroll them in school here in Forney and get them settled. Kaylie gave up her room and moved in with Kirstie. The girls are now sharing Kaylie's rom and Kirstie & Kaylie are sharing Kirstie's room.
I don't know what we are going to do about Christmas but we will figure something out. Right now I am more concerned about the emotional problems the girls have and the anger it is causing in Kourtney with having to share so much, especially her sisters and parents. She is supposed to be the baby.
Through all of this I have been enduring a substantial amount of pain. I have been for years but it is getting worse. Mike finally made me go to the dr. the week before Thanksgiving. I went back last Wednesday to get the results and I was told I have Lupus. Lupus. Seriously?!?! What is next....locusts? The plague? Really? When it rains it pours.
I am being tested for something. What, I do not know. If he leads us to it, he will lead us through it! We will have to see. I do know these kids needed us. When I hear the stories they tell of how their lives were it literally (figuratively, ha) breaks my heart! I cannot imagine, and neither can my kids. Maybe this will teach us all not to take things for granted.
I will write more later. I must sleep. Goodnight~
